Together Season One kicks off on Friday 12th March for a series of events at the much loved Coronet Theatre. For the launch we welcome three of the finest purveyors of electronic music in its different guises; Mylo, Sub Focus and Zombie Nation (live). Further live music in the main room comes courtesy of the brilliant Crystal Fighters, with additional support from Ibiza Rock’s Doorly, Durrr’s head honcho Rory Phillips and Men In Masks. Super cool music website and all round trendsetters FACT host room 2 with very special guest Kode9 alongside Mosca, R1 Ryders and Deep Teknologi, whilst room 3 also sees live performances from three acts you are going to be hearing a lot from in the coming months; O.Children, My Tiger My Timing and Lunar Youth. Add to this monstrous lineup London’s no.1 student DJs, the Union DJs and Data Transmission’s Ben Gomori, and we have on our hands a true statement of intent of what should be expected from Together Season One.
Mylo
Mylo has seen his travels take him from a childhood life on the Isle of Skye to London and Paris before studying in Oxford and LA. In 2001 he returned to Scotland to submerge himself in music and growing up in one of the remotest corners of Europe meant his music sources were scarce, but it continued to be part of his life when studying at Oxford University. Further studies included a Philosophy PhD at UCLA but after a year, he returned to Skye to start making music. He tinkered around in his home studio and soon after Breastfed Music was born. Mylo released his debut album ‘Destroy Rock n Roll’ in 2003, before signing a major record deal with giants Sony BMG. His live shows see him joined by a number of sonic pioneers and the success of these performances make Mylo one of the heavyweight DJs on the planet. Furthermore his remixes for the likes of the Scissor Sisters, The Killers and Kylie Minogue have confirmed Mylo as one of the best production talents around. We are delighted to be able to welcome Mylo to headline the launch of ‘Together’ and watch him put on a show to rival any other.

Tinie Tempah [Live]
On the verge of storming the UK charts with his outstanding debut single ‘Pass Out’, Tinie is the hottest new talent to burst onto the music scene in 2010. Tipped to conquer the US this summer and become a mega star by the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw and Tim Westwood, Tinie will be joining us for an exclusive live performance. Make sure you head to The Coronet for the Together launch as we present the one and only Tinie Tempah!

Sub Focus
Sub Focus is the Ram Records Golden Boy and unquestionably one of the hottest talents in dance music. Responsible for the most eagerly anticipated drum & bass album to be released last year, his music, which he has produced since 2003, is on every cool playlist from here to the North Pole. In 2005 he hit the number one spot on the UK Dance Chart with ‘X-Ray/Scarecrow’, and after repeating the feat in 2008 with the single ‘Timewarp/Join The Dots’, he cracked the UK Top 40 singles chart with ‘Rock It/Follow The Light’. His remixing duties have also turned a few head, working with The Prodigy, Deadmau5, Dr Octagon, Empire of the Sun and Dizzee Rascal. Coming off the back of a massive 2009 which included his inaugural UK tour and being cover-star on the last ever issue of drum & bass bible Knowledge, Sub Focus will look to continue his success in trademark fashion as Together rolls into town.

Zombie Nation [Live]
2009 marked the 10th anniversary of Zombie Nation, and what a decade it has been. The man behind Zombie Nation, Florian Senfter, started DJing at warehouse parties and underground art exhibitions back in the 90s. As time past his producing skills improved and in 1999 Zombie Nations first 5 track EP was released on DJ Hell’s seminal Gigolo Records. Since then the Zombie Nation legacy has grown with hits ‘Souls At Zero’, ‘Money Talks’, ‘Booster’ and the infamous ‘K400’ all under his belt. A new Zombie Nation album, ‘Zombielicious’ was released back in March 2009 and has set a bench mark for electronic music ever since. But his remixing projects haven’t been neglected, seeing him produce some sterling remixes for the likes of The Presets, Adam Freeland and Kid Sister. Florian has been playing all kinds of shows from intimate gatherings to large festivals, taking his ‘Zombie Nation Live’ showcase around the globe. When the ‘Zombie Sound’ hits Together this March expect the usual raw energy of funky, dirty grooves between electro and house, not forgetting a show to rival any.

Crystal Fighters [Live]
Crystal Fighters is the name of an unfinished opera written by the singer’s deceased grandfather. Enthused by its visionary content, the band inherited the name. In 2008 the band took London by storm with their raw, intense and passionate live shows at Durrr, Dollop, Matter, Cargo, The End, Secret Garden Festival and beyond and gained recognition through features in magazines like Mixmag, iDJ, Clash, FACT and Dazed & Confused. The groups’ single ‘Xstatic Truth’ was released in May of last year along with their ‘Maison 7’ compilation. 2008 ended on a high for Crystal Fighters when their ever-present online hit ‘I Love London’, not released until November 2009, entered Mixmag’s Top 100 Records chart ahead of the likes of Toddla T and Bloc Party. Crystal Fighters return to London for Together, blending the strange flavour of Basque folk music with churning basslines and lively vocals resulting in an uplifting sound unlike any other.

Doorly
With a mixture of glitch, techno, electro, drum & bass and dub-step, Doorly’s rise to prominence behind the decks is relentless. In 2008 he was invited by Pete Tong to spin live on Radio 1’s Essential Mix as a part of the ‘In New DJs We Trust’ Tour. This was followed by appearances on the Radio One stage at Creamfields and the Radio 1 Ibiza Weekend. Doorly has since landed residencies at Wax:On, Metropolis and Ibiza Rocks, while more recently adding Manumission’s creation ‘Reclaim the Dancefloor’ @ Eden and a spot on Radio 1’s ‘Annie Mac presents’ tour to his list. Doorly’s own night, After Party, in his home town of Huddersfield, was recently voted Best Club Night by both Galaxy Radio and Mixmag, providing Doorly with the opportunity to play alongside some of dance’s finest. With remixes for artists including Dizzee Rascal, Basement Jaxx, Frankmusik and Calvin Harris, Doorly has proved he’s also a force to be reckoned with on the production front. New label Wax:On Music is home of Doorly’s debut release Toys/Horsestep which dropped in September. With his work both on and off the decks already turning heads, Doorly takes centre stage at Together to showcase why he’s the hot topic in dance music.

Rory Phillips (Durrr)
Rory Phillips built up his reputation for packing out dancefloors on the back of the now legendary club night ‘Trash’ and East London’s ‘Our Disco’. His ever-developing music styles are perfectly showcased through his headline slot at Trash’s successor ‘Durrr’ and his own club night ‘Say Yes’, playing the best in new music as well as unearthed gems from the past. Over the years Rory has been joined behind the decks by like-minded acts such as Zombie Nation, Mock & Toof, Padded Cell and DJs from both the ‘Strut’ and ‘Dissident’ labels. But London is not the only place Rory has made a name for himself. The Londoner’s travels have seen him play to crowds right across Europe, Asia, The USA and South America, while also providing keyboard duties for Whitey and recording a DJ session for the late John Peel’s radio show. Recently Rory has been hard at it in the studio producing remixes for the likes of Little Boots, The Gossip, Chromeo and Franz Ferdinand and we welcome him to Together for a night that is sure to enjoy the same level of success as all gigs he plays.

Kode 9
Based in South London, Kode9’s Hyperdub sound is difficult to define, sometimes with beats, sometimes without, sometimes with a vocalist, sometimes without, the only continuity is the heavy sub bass. Currently Kode9's DJ sets travel through a selection of dancehall influenced bass heavy skank, currently referred to as grime and dubstep. Kode9 runs the record label Hyperdub arguably the most important and influential label within dubstep, releasing artists such as the Spaceape, Warrior Queen, the Bug and Burial's self-titled debut album, which The Wire magazine named their number one album of 2006. His DJ sets have helped spread the South London sound internationally, to East Asia, Europe, South America, North America and Australia and when he comes home on Friday 12th March to play Together for the very first time we expect dancefloor devastation from one of the best. We cannot wait...

My Tiger, My Timing [Live]
My Tiger, My Timing were formed in South East London back in 2008 when Anna and James Vincent, Jamie Harrison, Gary Drain and Seb Underhill came together to create one of best up and coming alternative bands around. Their first single, ‘This Is Not The fire’, hit the airwaves in April of last year and their follow up hit ‘I Am The Sound’, produced by New Young Pony Club’s Andy Spence, is available now on download via Silver Music Machine or as a limited edition CD EP courtesy of Pure Groove. The band arrived at the name My Tiger, My Timing after taking inspiration from an Arthur Russell track of the same name and recently produced a cover of his track ‘Arm Around You’ for a covers album released on the Electric Minds label. Their production trail continued, leading to original work being included on the ‘Sisters’ EP on French label Sisterphunk as well as on the new Pure Groove 3 and Modular’s ‘Leave Them All Behind 3’ samplers. The bands production is hot and their performance at the Coronet is set to follow suit as they hit the Together stage for our Season 1 extravaganza.

Union DJs
Resident DJs at the UK’s premier student night Union, the Union DJs spend their time taking their mandate of destruction across the country and further afield. Residencies at fabric and matter have catapulted the duo to the forefront of the dance scene, whilst their most recent tour, headlined by Faithless, took in huge gigs in Sheffield, Bristol, Oxford, Brighton and Southampton. Since settling down at Cream, Ibiza Rocks, Judgement Sundays and other institutions on the white isle, the Union DJs are constantly raising their game and obliterating everything in their path. So as the Together season kicks-off, we are delighted to welcome the awesome Union DJs to wield their musical wrecking ball and destroy the rigid norms of dance music as we know it.

Ben Gomori
DataTransmission.co.uk’s editor has held down residencies at bastions of London nightlife like Turnmills, The Cross, The Key, Egg and Pacha, and 2010 sees him enter the world of production with a multitude of projects on the go. With tracks previously supported by everyone from Jesse Rose to Mason to Larry Tee and a selection as one of We Love Space’s FreshBlood DJs in 2009, you’ll be hearing a lot more about him this year.
